Assessment

All clients are comprehensively assessed after substantial data gathering from parents, teachers and other relevant professionals to determine the child’s strengths and weaknesses.  The therapist will select an appropriate battery of standardised and non-standardised tests suitable to evaluate the individual’s strengths and weaknesses.  A classroom observation will also be included if deemed necessary.

The assessment helps the therapist to establish treatment goals in collaboration with parents and other team members.  Once the assessment is complete, your therapist will spend time writing a summary or full report depending on the child’s needs and the purpose of the assessment.  On most occasions, the therapist will make a time to meet with you to discuss the outcomes of the assessment and the next steps in the process.

Assessment length can vary depending on the reason for completing the assessment and the type of assessment being undertaken.  Most assessments take more than one session to complete and are dependent on how well children focus and perform.
